Bogged Down by Fear359 (f, mud, grim) Michelle loved the great outdoors and she loved to hike, so when she heard of a new trail to hike on she told, herself that this weekend she would head out there and hit this new trail. The week went by slowly and work was driving her crazy, but when Friday came she knew that she had 8 hours of work, and then the weekend was hers and she was going to go hiking. When 4:00 PM hit she got up from her desk, and told every one have a nice weekend and she took off. She had already packed her stuff up the night before and had her blazer loaded when she left for work this morning and she hit the interstate doing 75 MPH the Revolution hiking trails. The trip took her about three hours, and when she got into the camp site, she checked in, got her things in her room, went to get something to eat came back to her room and went to bed about 09:00 PM. Her alarm went off about 06:30 AM and she stumbled out of bed, and into the bathroom to take a hot shower. When she felt that she was alive again she walked into the little kitchen a turned on the coffee maker, and then she went back to her room to get dressed. Michelle put on a pair of shorts, a tank top, with a button up shirt over it. She put her hiking boots on, and threw a pair of sweat pant in her back pack just in case she needed them. She went back into the kitchen got a cup of coffee, and was out the door to greet the morning. As Michelle pulled out her map of the area, she could see that there were trails all over the place, all she had to do was pick one and go. As she started heading into the woods, she could hear the birds waking up singing, and the sun was just starting to come up over the mountains in front of her. As she walked on Michelle thought about what she was going to do when she got home, and had to face her soon to be ex-boyfriend Thomas. Michelle had caught him cheating with a friend of hers last week. She didn't say anything then she wanted to think about it, and go through her options, so she figured if would be better to live alone and happy, than live with someone and be unhappy. As she finally told herself that Thomas was gone as of Monday, she came upon a three way spilt in the trail. Michelle looked at the map and found that the trail to the far left went down by a stream. That's what she needed the sound of running water to see the fish swimming by, and the whole get back to nature thing was just what she needed. So she headed left and made her way towards the stream. Michelle walked for about a mile, and she couldn't see or hear the stream at all, and so she pulled out the map again, and when she looked at it she could see that she was about another mile away from it. So she started walking forward again. Then out of nowhere she saw a deer run out in front of her about 20 yards up the trail. Michelle took off running to see where the deer might be going. When she got to where the deer had shot through the woods it was gone. Thinking that was strange she decided to get off the trail and see if she could follow the deer for a while. As Michelle stepped off the trail into the woods, it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. She began to walk through the forest at a very fast pace, and then Michelle thought that she could hear water to her right. As she went through some trees and then she saw the stream less than 50 yards away from where she was standing. Michelle felt her heart skip a beat when she saw it, and then she was moving for the stream when something happened that she had not expected. The ground she was walking on turned into a soft sticky very deep area that when she tried to move her feet the ground just pulled them in more, and more. As Michelle tried to pull her feet out of the muck it began to pull her in with each movement she made. Not knowing what to do she tried to pump her legs up and down and that way she could get her feet out of this goo, and get over to the stream. As Michelle started pumping her legs the ground started to let go of her feet, and her left foot came free, and then instead of putting in behind her, she tried to put it down in front of her. As Michelle put her left foot down in front of her the ground held her weight until her right foot came free, and when she tried to take her next step forward, and goo opened up, and swallowed her up to her knees. Michelle tried to get out of the muck but all she did was drive herself in the mess more, and more. She didn't know that she was in trouble until she could feel something underneath where her feet where. She couldn't be sure or not but she had a funny feeling that something was pointing her toes downward, and then when she was sucked in to her waist, she knew what had happened! "Somebody please help me, I have stumbled into some kind of bog, and I can't get out! Is anyone out there? Please! I need help somebody!" Michelle began to struggle for all it was worth, but the more she struggled the deeper she sank into the bog, she tried to turn herself around in the bog, and that way she can lean forward and grab something anything that might help her get out of this goo. Getting turned around in a bog is easier said than done, and by the time that Michelle got herself turned around, she had lost most of her body to the bog. She was chest deep when she leaned over as far as she could and began reaching for something to pull herself out. As Michelle stretched as far as she could she put too much of her body forward, and her arms dropped into the bog, and when she tried to pull them out, she found that she couldn't seem to get them free no matter how hard she tried. The bog pulled Michelle in to her chest and she began to scream for all it was worth, but there was just no one around to hear her screams for help. She began to think of Thomas and wished that he was here, he would save her, and she would reward him. And just as she started to call out his name the bog pulled Michelle down into the great unknown.
