How do I get there from here by Fear359 (f, qs, grim) Brooke stood on the old dirt road looking for a way out of her mess that she had gotten herself into. She thought that if she took this short cut she would beat her husband home, and he would not know that she was having an affair. Two miles down the road Brooke hit a pothole, and snapped her front axle into. As she stared out on the long road, she knew that she had to get home before her husband, and she knew that she only had 45 minutes to do it. If she went back the way she came she knew that she would not make it, but if she went on she might make it to the main highway, and maybe hitch a ride home, get cleaned up, and her husband Tommy would never know the difference! Brooke opeed up the glove box, grabbed a flashlight and headed out into the sunset. Swearing to no one but herself, Brooke was glad that she was at least dressed for this little walk. Dressed in a pair of tight blue jeans a long sleeve shirt, and her favorite pair of nikes, she knew that she could beat her husband home, and still have fun (as she called it). Looking at her watch she decided that she would start running, to make up some time. As Brooke started a light jog, she felt a sense of calm around her; this place wasn't so bad and maybe she would do some more jogging out here in the near future. Brooke ran on and she was really getting into it, and then as she rounded the corner of the road there was something on the road, something long and moving. As Brooke moved closer she could see that it was a snake, and a very large snake. She stopped to get a good look at it, and she could see that it was a python, and pythons, as everyone knows, are very slow and won't be a problem. As Brooke started to move away from the giant snake it started to move towards her, slow at first, but it picked up speed. Brooke jumped off the trail, and started running through the trees to get around the snake. But as Brooke looked back up at the road she could see that the snake was following her from the road. Now Brooke had to make her way deeper into the forest, and she knew that she was losing precious time. As she moved deeper into the forest dodging branches and jumpping over falling logs, Brooke was running for her life, and everything that she held dear to her. After what seemed like a lifetime Brooke stopped and listened for the snake, but she heard something else, a stream and it was close. Brooke walked on for about another 30 to 40 yards, and there it was, a small stream and on the other side of it a road. Brooke knew that if she got across to the other side she could make it home, but as she picked up a branch and threw it in the stream she could see that it was moving too fast for her to cross. So she went upstream to see if she could cross it somewhere else. About a 1/2 mile up the steam Brooke could see that the steam had slowed down, and was only about three or four inches deep. As Brooke stopped and looked closer she could see that there was a small sand bar about 10 feet wide, and it reached the other side of the stream. Smiling at herself, Brooke decided that this would be the best place to cross. Brooke looked at the stream, and then looked back to where she was, and thought that not only had she beaten the snake, she has also pulled another one over on her husband! Then without warning Brooke heard a sound behind her, and turned around. As she flashed her light she saw that the snake was coming for her, but it had slowed down to a crawl. Not knowing why, and not caring why, Brooke turned and ran out into the stream, and onto the sandbar. As Brooke turned to look back at the snake, she could see that it had stopped moving towards her, but she knew that snakes could swim, so she didn't want to waste any time getting across the stream. Brooke turned to make her way across the sandbar. Brooke could feel that the sandbar was sticky, soft, and sucking at her feet, but she pressed on. She got to the middle of the stream. Brooke's right foot went into the sandbar and out of reflex her left foot followed, and now Brooke was stuck. As she tried to free her right foot, her left foot went in deeper. Then she tried to free the left foot, and her right foot went in deeper. Brooke didn't think about it so she began to pump her legs in order to break the mud's hold on her calves, but as she sank to her knees, a thought crossed her mind. 'Quicksand!' Now with that in mind Brooke tried everything she knew to get out, but all it did was drive her in deeper! The quicksand slowly took her in to her waist! That was when Brooke started screaming for help, and begging the quicksand to let her go. The Quicksand slowly pulled Brooke into it's mouth (so to speak), and began to put pressure on her feet so that they pointed down, so she would sink faster. As Brooke felt her feet slowly being pulled downward, she had this aweful feeling that this stuff was alive and wanted to eat her. And with that Brooke fought on, and the more she fought, the deepper she sank. After 15 minutes of screaming for help, and struggling Brooke was tired, and was now chest deep in quicksand. And then, as soon as this sinking mess had started, it stopped. Brooke thought that she was only dreaming but as she looked around she could see that she had indeed stopped sinking, and her feet had hit bottom, a solid bottom. Brooke started to laugh and cry at the same time, because now all she had to do was push on the solid ground beneath her feet, and work her way out! As she turned around to see if the snake was still there, she could see that the python was still there, just looking at her, and then at the ground, and Brooke knew that the snake knew that there was quicksand here, and wanted no part of it. On her first attempt Brooke got winded, and only moved about two inches up. So she figured that she would rest, get up some strength, and then push her way out of the quicksand. She rested for about 5 five minutes, and then she was ready to give it a shot. Brooke took a deep breath and started to push on the firm bottom. She was slowly coming up, when the unthinkable happened: The firm solid bottom was just a thick layer of mud, and when Brooke pushed against it, it gave way, and her feet sank into a thick and clinging type of mud. Brooke felt her feet sink into this new mud, and the grip on her feet was unbelievable. The more she tried to pull her feet out the more the mud sucked her in. And before Brooke knew it she was up to her neck in this death trap. Once again she started screaming for help, and begging the quicksand to let her go, but Brooke knew that the quicksand really didn't hear her, it just kept on pulling her down. Brooke leaned her head back but it was too late. This new stuff her feet were in, was slowly pulling her down to her doom. As she looked up at the moon just coming into view she hoped that in the afterlife there was no quicksand to be trapped in. The quicksand pulled on Brooke's calves and pulled hard. She tried to scream, but water and mud ran into her mouth. After a few minutes there was nothing but a hole in the sand bar, but as the stream rolled over it even the hole began to disappear. The python looked at the ground in front of it and slowly started to move back up the hill.
