She's a Demon by Fear359 (f/m, qs, grim) They both had been searching for the trail back to the main road, and the way out of this nightmare that they had wandered into. Heather and her best friend James were taking a walk down by the swamp, when for some strange reason that neither one could explain they decided to take a walk into the swamp, and do some exploring. They were about 2 miles in the swamp when things got dark, a storm was moving in. But that was impossible, the sky was clear not more than 15 minutes ago, but they could not deny the facts, the sky was getting darker, and it was getting colder for some strange reason. Then out of nowhere, and everywhere, they both heard voices! Voices saying that they were in danger and to get out of the swamp now, and when they both decided to get out of the swamp, they turned around, but for some reason they could not remember the way out. That was when they first saw the old swamp witch, just sitting there laughing at them, and when they asked her for help, she vanished into thin air. Heather just looked at James, and James was shaking his head in disbelief. Not knowing which way to go, they both started running. The only problem was they were running deeper into the swamp, and it was getting harder, and harder to run. After about 3 minutes of running Heather had to stop and rest, James wasn't keen on the idea, but couldn't leave Heather behind, so he told her to rest only for a minute. As they both began to talk about what they had just seen, the old witch appeared again this time she was walking right at them, laughing, and with a look on her face that chilled. Not wanting to let her get any closer, they both started running again down the small and dense trail. Heather was having a hard time keeping up with James, but tried her best. James, not wanting to get too far ahead of Heather reached back and grabbed her hand, and began to pull on it. When Heather looked back to see if the witch was still there, and she was just laughing at them the whole time. As they came to the end of the trail, there was the road just no more than 100 yards away. As they both started running for the road, their feet sank into something that they thought was mud, but the more they moved the more they sank, and then James screamed, "Quicksand!" and they knew that they were done for. The witch had led them right into quicksand, and there was no way out of it. Heather screamed, and struggled to free herself, but all she did was drive herself in deeper. James tried to go back the way they came, but the witch was there, and James could not go back, and he could not go forward. As they sank, they both still struggled to free themselves, but that only drove them in deeper, and before they knew it, the quicksand had them up to their chests, and had no intentions of letting them go now. They were both in too deep to escape, and they both knew it! The witch just stood there, and laughed more, with each inch that they sank. Heather was in tears, and James was yelling at the witch to help them, but this just made the witch laugh more. As Heather screamed for James to help her, James reached out and grabbed Heather's hand, and pulled her close, and tried to get her to the other side of the quicksand so at least she could escape. But just as James began to push Heather towards the other side, the quicksand beneath their feet turned into a soupy type glue, that pulled them both in, and neither one of them could move. With the quicksand at their necks Heather screamed for James to hold her until the end came, but James couldn't move, and with one final scream Heather watched James sink out of sight. Heather screamed at the top of her lungs at the witch, but the old witch just smiled at her and turned and walked away. And when she vanished a vine fell from the trees, and she pulled herself to shore. When she was on stable ground again, the witch appeared, and Heather just looked at her and smiled and said, "You cut that awful close, Mom!" Her mother just smiled at her and said, "I had to make sure that he sank first! Now who is next on your sinking list, daughter"?
