The Watcher by Fear359 (f/m, qs) Susan and Mark, husband and wife, both very unhappy with the way that their lives have become so run of the mill. Everyday the same thing; up at 0600, out the door by 0715 to go to their jobs. One day something snaps in Susan's mind, and she starts yelling at Mark, saying things that he knows deep down that she doesn't mean, and then she says the most foul thing she can say, "Mark, I want a divorce! I can't take this anymore." Mark tries to reason with her, but her mind is made up and so he says, "Fine!" and leaves the house to go for a walk. Susan didn't really mean to say that but now there is no way that she can take it back. So she sits down and turns on the TV. She watches the news, a few minutes of MTV and decides that they is nothing on TV worth watching. So she picks up a book and starts reading. Mark is just walking around, trying to figure out what in the hell went wrong, and how can he fix it. He doesn't know what went wrong, so how can you fix something when you don't know what's wrong? So with that in mind he turns around and heads home. When he gets home, he asks Susan, "What's wrong? And why do you want a divorce?" Susan just gives him a blank stare and goes back to her book. Mark is really starting to feel his blood boil, and he goes upstairs to go to bed. He takes a shower and puts on his PJ bottoms and hops into the bed, and maybe he will wake up from this bad dream. Susan is getting tired, and about 1130pm she decides that she too will go to bed. After taking a long hot shower she puts on her nightgown and climbs into bed. When they are both asleep I make my move: First to put them both in a very deep dream like state. Second, put them in the same realm of dream state. And third, give them both something to think about in the morning. Good, I have them both in a very deep sleep, now to get them into the same realm of dream state. Ah, good! Got them both. Now what can I do to them to make them want to hold on to each other and stop talking about this divorce thing? Got it! Now first you Susan: You are now lost in the jungle, and ... 'Where in the heck am I, anyway? God, it looks like a jungle, but that can't be, because I know that I'm asleep in my bed. At least I think I am.' *crack* 'What was that? I don't know if I'm dreaming or not, but I'm not about to wait around and find out!' Good, Susan. That's it! Keep running, it will all make sense in due time. 'Thank goodness I lost whatever that was chasing me! But now I'm lost, and this jungle is getting a lot spookier, and I don't like it! Well at least I have some clothes on and shoes on my feet, so this dream can't hurt me that much.' Oh, my dear! But it can and will hurt you in a way that you cannot begin to fathom. *crack* 'Not again! Gotta get away from that thing, whatever it is!" That's right, Susan! Keep going! Now over to the right just a bit. That's a good girl! It won't be long now. 'What? Hey, what is this? My feet are stuck, and I can't pull them out! Oh, God! Quicksand! Oh my God! I'm trapped in quicksand!' - "Please, somebody! Anybody! Help me! I'm trapped in quicksand, and I'm sinking!" Good! Phase one of the plan is done. Now for phase two. 'Maybe if I try and pump my legs, I can get out of this goo and on my way. No, it's not working! The more I move my legs the deeper I sink! No, God! Please! Don't let this be happening to me! There is so much that I haven't done, and most of all I didn't tell Mark that I'm sorry and that I love him and that I always will!' You say that you always love Mark? Well, let's just see about that. 'Oh, boy! Is this a dream or what? I have never dreamed about being in a damn jungle before, but since it's nothing but a dream I guess it's cool.' "Cool", you say? Well, let me warm things up for you, Mark. *crack* 'What was that? It sounded like a stick breaking. Well, I've seen enough jungle movies to know that that means trouble, and I had better get out of here on the double.' That's it, Mark! Go straight ahead and meet your destiny. 'Man! This jungle must go on for miles, and if I'm not careful I could find myself in a world of trouble. So, whatever that was, I think I lost it.' Mark, not on your life. *crack* *crack* 'Oh no! Not again! Whatever it is, is tracking me, and I have to get away!' Mark! Just another 100 yards, and then you will meet your destiny. "Please somebody help me! I'm sinking in quicksand, and I can't get out! This stuff is like glue, and it's pulling me down with every move that I make!" "Susan? My God, Susan! Is that you?" "Oh, Mark! Thank God you found me! Please help me! I can't get out of this quicksand, and it's pulling me in fast!" "First of all, Susan, stop trying to move! That's why you're sinking so fast. Try and be calm and I get you out of there!" No Mark, not yet! I am still not done with the two of you. So I hope you understand why I have to make this a little harder. "Susan! I'm gonna try and reach you from the other side. I can't get near you from over here, because there is quicksand all over." "Mark, please be careful, I don't want to lose you to this jungle and this horrible quicksand!" "Susan, don't worry! You just be still, and I'll have you free of that stuff soon." Oh, Mark. I hate to say this but no, you won't. Because every way you go I will put another obstacle for you to get around. There is only one way to save her, and time is running out. "Damn!" "What is it, Mark?" "There is quicksand everywhere I go, Susan! I don't think that I will be able to reach you." "It's alright, Mark. I understand. One of us trapped is bad enough. Mark, before I go under I just wanted to let you know that I do, and will always, love you! I know that you tried your best to reach me." Contact! Now it's up to Mark. Please Mark, do the right thing! "Susan, I love you, and life without you would be a life not worth living. So hold on, I'm coming back around." "Mark! I thought you said that there was quicksand everywhere? You can't reach me from the front!" "Susan, don't worry. I have a plan to get you. All you have to do is believe in me!" That's right, Mark. Take a few more steps and this will all be over. "Mark, stop! What are you doing?" "Susan I know what I'm doing, just hold on!" "Mark, no! If you don't stop you'll be trapped in the quicksand, too! I'm not worth it!" "Oh, but you are, Susan! You are my wife and I love you very much, and I will either live with you or die with you. It makes no difference to me." Now, I have them both. Let's see what happens. "Mark, I don't know why you did that, but I do know that we are both going to die. But it won't be so bad, because I have you!" "And I have you, Susan, and that is all that matters. Now slowly, very slowly reach your hands out to me, and I will try and pull you to me without having us sink any deeper." Good! They're trying to get closer. Good, good, GOOD! "That's it, sweetheart. Just a little closer." "The quicksand is up to your chest, Mark! We have to stop. You're sinking faster than I am now." "I know. Come on, just a little closer, and you'll be close enough for me to hold until the end." "Oh Mark, I love you so!" Now quicksand, let them get close enough to hold each other, and then I'll take it from there. "Oh, Mark, you feel so good in my arms. Even though we are gonna die, at least I will die in you arms!" "Susan, there is something that I never want you to forget, and that is: I will always love you, till the end of time." Alright, just a few more inches, and then I will end this. *BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!* 'Man, what a dream! But God, did it feel real!' - "Susan! Susan, are you awake?" "Yes, what is it, Mark?" "I have to tell you about this dream I had last night and-" "Wait, Mark! I have to tell you abut /my/ dream! I was lost in a jungle, and I fell into some quicksand and-" "- I showed up to save you, but everywhere I turned there was quicksand, and I couldn't reach you. So I walked into the quicksand, because I-" "- because you said, life without me would be a life not worth living. Mark, I'm sorry for all the things I said last night! I really do love you, and I don't want to fight with you ever again!" They both embrace in a kiss, and they both call in sick for work. Are you wondering, who I am? Well, let me put it to you this way: I am the watcher, the one who tries to teach right from wrong, good from bad, and most importantly, to love and not to hate! If you still don't know who I am just look around at the world you live in, and then you'll know!
